EVERY Sydney workplace has its office gossip.

The person who officially knows the unofficial: who is up for a promotion, who is
in trouble with the boss, who is having a baby and who is dating whom.

Gossip in Sydney work offices is good for you !!!!

Office gossip in Sydney is a universal phenomenon and an important tool in
workplace communication.

Everybody partakes in the trade of information: office gossip. It is part of the
Australian workplace culture.

It is not true that office gossip is only propagated by juniors and less influential
staff members as a way of the wielding power.

Managers certainly use gossip. They would probably not admit to it as much.
Finding out things on the grapevine is very important to management to try to
anticipate problems."

Men are less likely to think of themselves as gossipers.

In a Sydney workplace, get used to hear: 'The boys are off to the pub to catch
up'. In effect the boys are gossiping!!! The same applies to “girls night” at
Sydney workplace!

Workers use gossip to find out how they stand in the company pecking order.
This covers promotions, relationships between work mates, babies, and sacking.

Job in Sydney involves gossiping. In fact, while being known as the office gossip
can undermine people's trust in you, those who refuse to gossip at all also risk
social isolation.

You can be out of the loop in a Sydney office workplace in you don’t gossip.

Office gossip comes in two forms: constructive and destructive. Constructive
gossip focuses on the workplace and is essentially the grease in the gears of
the organisation and helps the business to run smoothly.

Destructive gossip is usually about character assassination, where you are
saying something negative about someone personality. Destructive gossip is
unethical and should be avoided.

The easiest way to avoid negative gossip is to walk away. That sends a signal
to people that it is something you don't want to be a part of. However, if it is
malicious gossip, you almost have to challenge that. Otherwise you become a
part of it by not taking a stand.

While gossiping might be universal, if you take it too far your name might end
up on everybody's lips for all the wrong reasons.

Earlier this year, four local-government employees in a small town in the US
were fired for gossiping about the town administrator and another employee
who were wrongly rumored to be involved in an improper relationship.
