AUSTRALIA has 11,000 beaches yet only one in ten are accessible. Most of Australia's beaches don't have a name.
NEW SOUTH WALES Narrawallee Beach
Geoff says Narrawallee Beach for is a great long surf beach, surrounded by lush park and bush. A dip in the nearby lagoon is recommended, which makes for safe swimming and water sports.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Hellfire Bay, Cape Le Grand National Park Recommended by: Nick Holcz
PRISTINE white sands, bright turquoise waves lapping at your toes. Sounds divine.
Drive east of Esperance on the south coast of Western Australia and you'll find NEWS.com.au reader Nick Holcz's nominated secret beach: Hellfire Bay in the Cape Le Grand National Park.
A 2-3 hour walk along the winding Coastal Trail from either Lucky Bay or Cape Le Grand beaches, Hellfire Bay is much more isolated, which is one of the things Nick likes most - that and fishing from the beach rocks.
Where: Cape Le Grand National Park is 60km east of Esperance. Take Cape Le Grand Road to the beach and follow the clearly marked Coastal Trail signs. Park entry fee is $10.
Mercedes Cove
Surrounded by natural bush lands and entwined with tropical coastal palms, the pristine and private beach front has plentiful reef fishing areas and the bay is a playground for the migrating humpback whales.
The red cliffs of pindan, which meet the white shell-grit beach, are home to a variety of marine life including whales, turtles, dugongs and fish.
People who come to the Mercedes Cove will see the natural beauty of the bay, its seclusion and then have the freedom from the stresses of everyday life.
Where: Mercedes Cove is 140km (approx two hours by 4WD), northwest of Broome.
SOUTH AUSTRALIA Vivonne Bay, Kangaroo Island
Proclaimed the best beach in Australia by Sydney University back in 2003, Vivonne Bay on Kangaroo Island deserves to be discovered because its long, curved bay is a superb site for a secluded picnic, and offers great fishing and surfing.
Kangaroo Island, currently under threat from its worst bush fires in years, is famous for its abundant wildlife. Vivonne Bay is teeming with wallabies, kangaroos, penguins, lizards and koalas.
Vivonne Bay is the only safe harbour on the south coast of Kangaroo Island and the Harriet River offers plenty of safe swimming areas. The western headland, Point Ellen, provides spectacular coastal scenery views of the Southern Ocean.
It has beautifully blue warm water and is pure white – simply perfect.
Where: Kangaroo Island is a 30-minutes flight from Adelaide Airport.

Meehan Hill Lookout
The long, sandy beach on Yorke Peninsula is the lonely Australian beach Europeans can only dream about, says Michelle Bain.
The whole of southern Yorke Peninsula is very scenic and well worth a visit and Innes National Park is only another 5km past Marion Bay - this has beautiful beaches too which number among Australia's best surfing locations. To date only South Australians know about 'YP' because it's not a throughway to anywhere else.
Where: it's easily accessed from Meehan Hill Lookout on South Coast Rd, about 10km west of Foul Bay
